Peru: Opportunities and risks opened up by Castillo’s victory | Christina ZIAKKA

Implementing meaningful reforms to transform the lives of Peruvians requires a head-on confrontation with the Peruvian establishment, big capital and foreign multinationals. The working class and youth have shown clear signs of their being ready to do this. But for this intention to have a potential for success, a political direction is also required. A political force which will step forward and suggest a direction and organize the struggle is absolutely necessary. That will work out a plan to deal with the inevitable counter-attacks of the national and international ruling class. This new leadership of the mass movements will need to draw the necessary conclusions from Chavez’s and Morales’ failures, as well as the defeats of other movements in Latin America. Above all, there needs to be confidence in the working class and the lower social layers. Confidence that they can become the “rulers” of the economy, society and their own lives, with the objective of overthrowing the system. In order to achieve a sustainable overthrow of the system however, an internationalist perspective is absolutely necessary

28th Antinazi Zone/Youth Against Racism in Europe Camp in Greece

We have been organising antiracist and antifascist camps for the past 28 years, in different parts of Greece. This year our camp will take place in Drepano in the Region of Epirus, on an organised campsite by the beach.

Every day we organise on average two discussions (at the same time) on issues around antiracism, antifascism, women’s oppression, environmental struggles, police brutality, worker and youth struggles, art, etc (participation in the discussions is of course optional). Translation in English is provided by volunteers when required. During the evenings we organise live music events, parties and open-air cinema. A group excursion is also organised, as are activities for children on a daily basis

Why we disaffiliate from the ISA – Open letter by the ISA sections in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus

We are committed to the idea of building a mass revolutionary International and we’ll take initiatives in that direction, through an open and democratic dialogue with other groups, tendencies and individual comrades. At this stage, as the decision to depart now was not planned but was provoked by the anger of the membership in our ranks, we will use our websites and sections’ email addresses for communication. Soon, we will move in the direction of a common website, which will be open to different ideas and contributions, within the context of our revolutionary Marxist internationalist principles

TRUMP’S OUT: Socialist Analysis and Next Steps for Struggle

The celebrations have begun. Trump has clearly lost, and he will be out of the White House early next year. A massive sigh of relief is being exhaled by tens of millions of people across the country and hundreds of millions across the world. Yet we should recognize that the pandemic, climate change, economic crisis, and institutional racism won’t go away when Trump leaves office. Biden himself said that he doesn’t want fundamental change, and he will “reach across the aisle” to right-wing Republicans. We’ll still need determined mass movements to win gains for working people, to fight against the far right, and to challenge the disastrous rule of the billionaire class

China: State Repression Against Left Activists Escalates

On 14 August, left activist Chai Xiaoming was tried secretly by the Intermediate Court in the eastern city of Nanjing on the charge of “inciting subversion of state power”. The verdict and sentence of the court have not been made public but the Nanjing Public Prosecutor’s Office submitted a proposal of 3 to 5 years in prison. It is understood that Chai’s lawyers signed a confidentiality agreement with the authorities to ensure information about his case is not leaked

Nigeria: Lekki Massacre
